Bournemouth is a large seaside town on the southern coast of England and the most important economic centre in the county of Dorset. Along with the neighbouring towns of Poole and Christchurch, Bournemouth forms part of a South East Dorset conurbation home to almost half a million people. Much of Bournemouth’s early development was based on its popularity as a holiday retreat but by the 21st century the town was well-established in a number of industries, including most notably financial services. Central Bournemouth, is a thriving business, tourist and residential area. The town is well-connected by road and rail to its surrounding towns and to London, which is around 90 miles to the North-East.
