The Hotels & Leisure Division of Goadsby report the sale of four individually different hotels in recent months. The Victorian Westover Gardens Hotel overlooking the lower pleasure gardens in Westover Road, the Westleigh and Carisbrooke Hotels both in the heart of Bournemouth’s West Cliff and the prominently located 58 bedroom Diplomat Hotel have all attracted purchasers for a variety of uses. The Carisbrooke and Westleigh were both purchased by local businessmen to provide accommodation for their existing operations, while the Westover Gardens represents a first time venture for a family team from Surrey. The Diplomat has been acquired for a mixed use development scheme.
Divisional Director, Ian Palmer commented that, “Whilst the absence of available finance still proves a significant obstacle to even the most established hotel operator, individuals and companies remain prepared to go that extra mile to secure funding if the target property is considered to be priced correctly. I am in no doubt that market activity would increase significantly if banks were willing to provide even reasonable levels of support”.
The combined selling price of the four properties exceeded £2.35 million.
